VALDOSTA — Florida authorities this past weekend arrested a suspect in last week’ s stabbing of a Valdosta woman.
Freddrick Tooley, 21, was arrested in Broward County, Fla., according to the Valdosta Police Department Monday. During the arrest, authorities also recovered the car stolen from the woman who was reportedly assaulted.
At approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, a man knocked at the back door of a 700 block Cummings Street residence. He forced his way inside the residence. He demanded money from the two female residents, one age 80, the other 17 years old, according to the VPD.
The man and the women scuffled; the man reportedly had a knife, and the 80-year-old woman suffered a cut on her right arm.
The man left Cummings Street in the 80-year-old’s burgundy 2002 Chevrolet Impala before authorities arrived at the residence, police reported.
Emergency management services responded to the residence to treat the victim’s cut, while Valdosta police officers and a crime-lab technician were dispatched to investigate the incident.
Arrest warrants were signed and issued for Tooley, according to reports. He faces charges of four counts aggravated assault, one count each of burglary, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, motor vehicle theft, and simple battery, according to the VPD.
